The “KIlroy Was Here” glyph was one the earliest and widespread of popular wall glyphs beginning in World War II.

There are conflicting reports with several Kilroys claiming to have originated the phrase and accompanying glyph.

It eventually had the impact of a “we are all Spartacus” meme. It is not often seen today.
