Gomboc AI, a New York-based startup specializing in deterministic artificial intelligence for cloud security, has raised $13 million in seed funding to advance its mission of automating cloud security remediation. The latest $8 million investment was led by Ballistic Ventures, with continued support from Glilot Capital Partners and Hetz Ventures, who had previously co-led the company’s initial $5 million seed round.
Founded in 2022 by CEO Ian Amit and Chief Product Officer Matthew Sweeney, Gomboc AI addresses the persistent challenge of security backlogs that impede critical business transformations. Amit, a former Chief Information Security Officer responsible for securing multiple businesses under a single corporate umbrella, was inspired to create the company after facing an overwhelming number of security tickets and extensive vulnerability reports.
“The security industry is inundated with alerts, yet no solution has fundamentally addressed the root problem of remediating issues with minimal friction,” Amit stated. “I began to question why we accept these inefficiencies as the norm and envisioned a system where backlogs and tickets could be eliminated.”
Gomboc AI’s platform distinguishes itself by employing a patent-pending deterministic AI engine, which ensures consistent, repeatable, and context-aware code-level fixes. This approach contrasts with generative AI models that can produce variable outcomes. By integrating seamlessly with cloud infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code , the platform enables organizations to remediate misconfigurations while preserving functionality and agility.
Key features of Gomboc AI’s solution include:
– Automated Remediation: The platform goes beyond merely identifying security issues by providing accurate, context-aware code-level changes through IaC, ensuring that security improvements do not disrupt system functionality.
– Elimination of Security Backlogs: By proactively resolving vulnerabilities, Gomboc AI significantly reduces the overwhelming number of issues generated by traditional Cloud Security Posture Management tools and security scanners, allowing security and DevOps teams to focus on higher-priority tasks.
– Policy-Driven Framework: Aligned with industry standards such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework and the Center for Internet Security , Gomboc AI tailors its remediations to each organization’s unique environment. Changes require DevOps approval, and scanning triggers can be configured to run within existing DevOps pipelines.
– Deterministic AI Approach: Unlike solutions that rely on generative AI or rigid templates, Gomboc AI’s deterministic AI ensures accurate, context-aware code fixes without relying on customer data for model training.
Roger Thornton, Co-founder and General Partner at Ballistic Ventures, expressed confidence in Gomboc AI’s potential impact: “Gomboc AI is addressing a universal challenge by transforming the overwhelming security-ticket backlog into an automated, policy-driven remediation process. This company is poised to change how security and DevSecOps teams collaborate more efficiently and effectively.”
Kobi Samboursky, Co-founder and Managing Partner at Glilot Capital, highlighted the platform’s practical application of AI in security: “There’s been a lot of talk about AI assisting security teams, but many solutions aren’t realistic. Gomboc AI stands out by deeply understanding code and security postures, resolving issues, and reducing noise like no other.”
Pavel Livshiz, General Partner at Hetz Ventures, emphasized the urgency of automating security processes: “The cybersecurity market is at an inflection point—threats are evolving faster than companies can hire and train security engineers. Gomboc AI is uniquely positioned to solve this bottleneck with AI-driven remediation, turning security from a constant fire drill into a seamless, automated process.”
