Here’s When You Can Preload ‘Starfield’ On Xbox Series X/S And PC

BusinessHere’s When You Can Preload ‘Starfield’ On Xbox Series X/S And PC

Starfield, one of the biggest games of the year, has gone gold. Bethesda has also revealed when you can start preloading the ambitious game on Xbox Series X/S and PC ahead of its September 6 release date (September 1 for early access).

Console players who don’t mind letting Starfield take up over 100GB of unusable space on their Xbox Series X/S for the next two weeks can preload the game starting tomorrow, August 17.

PC players will have to wait a little while longer. They can preload Starfield on their rig starting on August 30. That’s only two days before the Starfield early access period begins, so if you have a slow internet connection, it might be time to start preparing for that hefty download so you can start playing as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, “going gold” doesn’t mean quite what it used to. It simply means that it’s in a releasable state in Bethesda’s eyes. Bethesda Game Studios is certainly not done with its work on Starfield. It will continue to update the game for months, likely years.

The publisher has a rocky track record with its game launches, which are often laden with bugs. However, Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty claimed back in June that “if it shipped today, Starfield would already have the fewest bugs of any Bethesda game ever shipped.” Let’s hope that’s true and that everyone who dives into this massive game in a couple of weeks has a smooth experience with it.
