Masdar, the UAE’s prominent renewable energy company, has signed a landmark power purchase agreement for a 1GW wind power project in Kazakhstan’s Jambyl region. The agreement, signed at COP28, is a cornerstone for Kazakhstan’s strategy to increase renewables to 15% of its energy mix by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
