KUWAIT/NEW YORK: Medical staff in Kuwait stood for 15 minutes on Thursday in a show of solidarity and support with the Palestinian people. During the event, the medical professionals also denounced the Zionist occupation’s vicious bombing of Ahli Arab Hospital that left in its wake hundreds killed and injured. The medical faculty condemned the targeting of medical facilities and the flagrant violation of international humanitarian laws and basic human values, and called for the immediate end to aggression against Gazans.

The event came as per the instructions of Health Minister Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi, organized so that it does not interfere with providing patients with care. Meanwhile, schools all over the country stood in solidarity on Thursday with Palestine by raising flags and holding posters during the morning assembly. Students also held up pictures and wore the traditional Palestinian keffiyeh scarf in support of Palestine, denouncing the horrific actions of the Zionist occupation forces, which has resulted in the death of 3,785 martyrs and 12,000 injured.

Acting Undersecretary of the Educational Development and Activities Sector at the Ministry of Education Dr Ghanim Al-Sulaimani said in a press release that the ministry of education issued a statement for schools to show support for Palestine during the morning assembly by organizing activities that educate the students regarding this cause.

In this regard, Mariya Al-Qibtiyya Girls High School held an exhibition that displayed the Palestinian map and holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as artworks and pictures expressing the Palestinians’ right to defend their land. Students also held presentations of scenes of violence and killings carried out by the Zionist occupation forces against the people of Gaza.

Kuwait has affirmed that the attack on Gaza’s Ahli Arab Hospital was a violation of international humanitarian law, calling to take serious measures to protect civilians. In a speech during the meeting of the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee, in charge of social, humanitarian and cultural affairs, late Wednesday, the diplomatic attache of Kuwait’s permanent delegation to the UN Ahmad Al-Daikan said that the whole world witnessed the Zionist entity’s brutality in the bombing of the hospital Continued on Page 6 that killed hundreds and injured hundreds more.

He renewed Kuwait’s strong condemnation of such escalation. Human rights are always a priority for Kuwait, as its constitution states, said Daikan.

The country has also established several human rights-related institutions as part of Kuwait’s commitment to international agreements. Meanwhile, Daikan noted that the National Assembly had approved establishing a committee for women, children and families affairs in June, a step towards developing human rights. He also spoke of equality between the genders, as Kuwait enabled women to engage in leading positions, including becoming MPs. — KUNA
